As any semi-regular reader of this blog would know, Thomas Foolery doesn't know much about electronic music. My exposure is limited mainly to the work of my friend Kory Wealick, who rocks this kind of shit harder than hell, and to a few visits to DJ'd parties out there in the wicked world.
That being said, I feel like I have the wherewithal to know when music is good; one must simply trust the contagious urge to move your body, or follow the instinctual tapping of the toe when it is sprung into action by a rhythmic ditty.
Montreal's electro-dance beat-maker CFCF, whose real name is Mike Silver, can certainly guide these impulses, and this ability is evidenced well on his most recent release, 2009's Continent. The album is relaxing, deeply rhythmic, and thoroughly enjoyable. Especially when enjoyed through the use of a good pair of headphones, this collection of songs will make your head bob and your eyes close. Who knew electronic music could be so soothing? Silver's myspace page even features an awesome remix of Taken By Trees' "Anna". (he also looks weirdly similar to the current incarnation of my older brother, which is pretty mental)
Take a listen and lose yourself in the swirling mystery of his sound.
