Music In Motion: Beirut, Plants and Animals

Well it's safe to say that March hasn't been my most prolific month on the blogosphere. I guess I've been focussed on some other projects and have been sidetracked by the details and preparations of a looming graduate program. Anyways, my sincerest apologies go out to everyone (if indeed there is anyone in this category) who relies on The Mad Ones for new music and other distractions.

Today, I would simply like to get back in the groove by posting a few videos to some great songs. Hopefully you can all dig that.

First off is a video to the song "Nantes" by Beirut, from their 2007 album The Flying Club Cup. The video is of Beirut performing the song in a kind of impromptu style on the streets, complete with wide-eyed passers-by and garbage can drums. I know a video from 2007 is, in the blog world, equivalent to pulling an old tome from the bank-vault of antiquity, but this song/video is just too good for me to give a shit. Dig it deep.

Second, here's the video to the lead single off of Montreal indie rock band Plants and Animals' forthcoming album, entitled La La Land. The song is called "The Mama Papa," and I'm sure that you'll notice, if you're familiar with their previous work, that it's a lot more accessible and catchy than most of the material found on Parc Avenue. La La Land comes out April 20th, and it certainlyis an enjoyable listen.

Once again, I'm sorry for my recent lack of attention towards The Mad Ones. I'm going to try to return to my semi-regular posting habits as soon as possible. Thanks for your continued support and for eternally digging music.
